New Steel Tape a Weight

Our coatings are engineered to provide the best possible steel weight coating for our customer’s needs. There are what appears to be more aesthetic, glossier coatings out there; but, functionally, most fall short.

Our coatings provide excellent corrosion resistance. Most of the glossier appearance weights are a combination of a flash zinc, electroplating with a polymer coating over the top. Though these look nice, the lack of complete coverage of the polymer coating over the entire weight severely limits the time before they start to rust. Complete coverage is key and our weights have the same coverage over the entire weight.

Also, as clean new weights, our matte finish isn’t initially as visually attractive. Over time though (and from wash to wash), the dirt and grime on the wheel and the weights makes both blend together very well. The matte finish tends to blend in better and tends to be less noticeable. Chemistries associated with adhesive weights are critical as well. With our choice to do an all-season tape, the adhesives and coating must be formulated to be compatible and work well together. Many polymer coatings have an adverse reaction to tape formulations for all seasons. They can and will cause many of these coatings to peel off the weight.

At Cascade, we try to provide the best solutions for our customer’s needs. For gaining something in one functional area may tend to cause something else to be given up somewhere else. We feel we are providing the best possible product balance between the weights doing their job and being as least noticeable as possible.
